Department of French Studies, Jeonbuk National University
The Department of French Studies at Jeonbuk National University began admitting new students in March 1978 and produced its first graduates in February 1982. In March 1984, a Master’s program was established, admitting six graduate students for the first time. Today, both Master’s and Doctoral programs are in operation, providing opportunities for students—who might otherwise have had to move to universities in the Seoul metropolitan area—to continue their research in the field of French studies within the region. Over the years, the department has produced a large number of bachelor’s and master’s degree holders, many of whom now contribute to academia, dedicating themselves to training future generations.
